Unveiled III: A Celebration of Music at DePaul | Dal Niente and DePaul's 20+

In a reworking of a performance from last season at the Art Institute, I'll be presenting a new version of upon the horizon, a space of unknowing, now for two contrabass clarinets and fixed media.

DePaul University’s stellar School of Music opens its new state-of-the-art Holtschneider Performance Center with a festival entitled Unveiled: A Celebration of Music at DePaul. Ensemble Dal Niente owes much to this institution, which has educated many of our members. We are delighted to rehearse, collaborate, and perform with its student new music group Ensemble 20+, with whom we grudgingly share conductor Michael Lewanski, alongside university faculty and guest composer Julio Estrada (Mexico City). Ensemble members who are also DePaul alumni (and who will be performing on this series of concerts) include Constance Volk (flute), Amanda DeBoer Bartlett (voice), Alejandro Acierto (clarinet), and Michael Lewanski (conductor). They will be joined by ensemble members Ben Melsky, Kyle Flens, and Matt Oliphant, as well as current DePaul students and faculty, in three wildly different concerts over the course of the evening.

Program:

Indeterminate and improvised music based on works of John Cage, James Tenney, Alejandro Acierto, Amanda DeBoer Barlett, Anthony Braxton
